The NorthPhoenixAgent is Heather Barr.

I’m a Realtor with Thompson’s Realty and have been in the biz since early 2005. I came to real estate after spending 5 years as a school librarian and another 5 as a paralegal, and a few intervening years as a risk reduction manager.  It’s been 3 years on the calendar, but a lifetime in the world of residential real estate. Some days I feel like I’ve seen it all – frenzy and jubilation as prices skyrocketed by 5% or 10% per month in the summer of 2005, as well as panic and doubt as prices fall again this year. If there was ever a good time to earn one’s trial by fire, these have been the years.

The Story Of How I Got Into Real Estate – Some years ago a good friend and co-volunteer on a Presidential campaign said to me, “You’re so good at talking to strangers. You’d make a great real estate agent.”   Being exceptionally unhappy in my profession at that time, I used up 3 weeks of vacation to attend real estate school. I took my RE exams in week 4 and quit my day job in week 5. Luckily the market was booming and my first check arrived in about week 12.

Why I’m Blogging – Since my family constantly tells me, “you could run your mouth off about nothing much for hours,” I figured it was time to start a real estate blog. And when my boss nominated me for BrokerAgent magazine as it’s “Rising Star Agent” I figured I just might have something useful to post. Hopefully you think so too.

When I’m Not Blogging or Real Estate-ing - you’ll find me searching my neighborhood for new shops & vendors to recommend to my clients, reading a couple of good books, hanging out with my cat, doing a little yoga, or listening to 80′s music (which is gasp! RETRO nowadays).
